Weekend ramblings
Ok, so it's August 17 and the leaves are changing. Is that not WAY too early? One day we're getting 35 degree temperatures and then suddenly it's 5 and raining every day. I was so not ready for that. I wanted some more lake time and skirt time and having the fan on at night. I am not prepared for it to be -40 again.

But anyway. This weekend was the first in many that neither me or Michael were on call or had to go anywhere. Today we've been cleaning the house and the yard up. There was so much junk left behind by the old owners. It's starting to look really nice now. I love it here so much.

I think tomorrow we're going to go to North Battleford. Usually when we need to go shopping (in a store other than SAAN or Co-op) we go to Cold Lake, but we never go to NB and there is a Burger King there so I think it's a great idea!

Next weekend we both have to work and then the weekend after that my mom is coming to visit! Yay! We have to go pick her up in Hinton, AB (where her brother lives now) and I am hoping we can get to Jasper to see the mountains too.

Tonight we're having a bbq mmm. I wonder where Michael is ... he has been outside for a long time, maybe I should go offer to help him hehe.

a place to call home
I've got a few minutes to kill before I head to work ... it's hard to find even a few minutes lately. Life is crazy busy, but mostly in a good way.

So we are all moved into our new house. I love it sooo much. It's comfy and cozy and all ours. Now we just have to find time to do some of things we want to do, like clean up the yard and stuff.

This summer has been like no other for me. I'm working, and actually enjoying it, plus traveling a lot. Not all over the place, but we've been to Edmonton a couple times. Last week we went to see Carrie Underwood at the Big Valley Jamboree. It was cold and raining the whole day but Carrie was worth it all. Plus we've been going to the lake lots. The lakes here are amazing. If I need a break from work and stress and all that I know the place to go. Sandy beaches, not crowded, warm water ... I love it.

It is officially less than a year until our wedding! We've got a lot of the big things taken care of (thanks to my wonderful mother who is helping out from home) and now I am starting to think about the little details. My mom is coming to visit at the end of the month and we are going to go look at the wedding dresses I've picked out. I'm so excited cause I never thought we'd be able to do that together.

K I have to get to work now, who knows when I'll update again! Just check facebook instead lol

Fire in the middle of the night. Again.
It's 3 am. I don't remember the last time I saw 3 am. Oh wait, yes I do, it was at the Relay for Life and I barely made it past 3. This time it's not so fun. Stupid kids setting random things on fire. It's not funny anymore!! Actually ... it was NEVER funny!!

So I have to stay up because Michael is still out fighting fires or cleaning up after or whatever they do and I have his keys so he is going to have to buzz me to get in. The joys of living in an apartment building. Hey ... in less than a month we won't have to worry about that anymore! We will be living in our own house! :D Yes we up and bought a house. Another fun life-changing even to add to our ever growing list. I guess when it's right, it's right.

So between now and then we have to do lots of packing of course, take a trip to Edmonton so I can go wedding dress shopping and somehow fit lots of work in there. I have actually been having a lot of fun working this summer. Except for nights like this of course.

Michael is back now, I'm going to bed.

Life changes
Wow, it's been a long time since I wrote. My life has gotten so crazy. I never though that living in a small town would be so busy. I actually remember thinking on the way here (and I did a LOT of thinking on the way here lol) that I was afraid I'd be bored compared to living in Halifax. I was so wrong. Between working 8 hours a day, going to meetings, events and whatever else is going on in the evenings and on weekends, then trying to fit in relaxing time and planning the wedding, there is no time left! But that's a good thing I guess!

Aside from trying to make wedding plans, we are now on the lookout for a house. Yeah, that kind of came out of nowhere. Houses are selling around here like crazy and people keep telling us now is the time. We thought about it and wondered what we had to wait for, and then the next thing we knew we were looking at houses. We found one we liked last night but before we even had a chance to put in an offer it was sold today. I guess it just wasn't right. We're going to keep looking though and if the right place comes along, you never know.

I had a little vacation a few weeks ago. I can't believe it has come and gone already. We went to Edmonton, where we picked up Ashley and Matt. We had an awesome time there, at the mall most of the time. Then we came back to Meadow Lake and spent the week before going back to Edmonton to say goodbye again. It went WAY too fast. It was so great having them here though. I forgot how much I missed Ashley and we got to catch up again. It was great :)

Tonight is one of the first nights I've had to myself in a LONG time. Michael is gone to fire practice and I was out earlier but got home pretty early thank goodness. It's nice just sitting here alone once in a while. I appreciate it so much more now that I don't get much time to do it. Funny how that happens.

So we're thinking about getting married in Cuba. That's about as far as we've gotten with plans. Well, I did go dress shopping when Ashley was here and it was so much fun! I even found a dress that I love and that Ashley is making me buy lol just kidding (I think hehe). I'm trying to get a travel agent so we can actually set a date. I'll keep you all posted!!

Well, this has gotten long so I am going to go. Who knows when I'll have time to post again. Let's just say that's a good thing though :)

business
I'm updating on my lunch break. It's been so long. I don't know where to begin. I'm engaged! :D Planning a wedding is hard and it's only been a week. I'm happy and excited and thrilled though.

There was a huge fire last week ... check out www.meadowlakeprogress.com to find out about it. Michael was there and I was very very worried, but he was fine. We went to Whitecourt for the weekend. Boy did we need to get away. It was so fun, being with the family and celebrating. We had a night out Saturday night and it was so fun and much-needed.

Ashley and Matt are coming NEXT WEEKEND!! I am so excited to be able to say that! It's going to be a week of fun and I just know it's going to go too fast. I can't wait though.

K, I have to go back to work soon. I just thought I should update on my crazy, busy life. Now I have to get back to it again.

Hipocritical, worrying me
It's been a while. I think I have been lacking the words. Maybe it's because I use so many at work ha ha.

I'm a little irritated tonight, but for silly reasons. I didn't zip up my purse earlier and our cell phone fell out and I didn't notice. Michael found it later but it was scratched up and now I feel terrible because I always nagged him for not taking care of his cell phone. Guess I won't do that anymore.

Also, the pager has been going off every second day it seems. I didn't have it tonight, but I still know when it goes off because of course Michael has to take off. We were right in the middle of unpacking the groceries from the car. It always messes up plans argh. But it's what he loves to do so I guess I will stop complaining. It's hard though, not knowing how serious the fire/accident or whatever is. I worry. But I'm proud too of course :)

Work is ... busy. Last week was a little extreme with a 32 page paper and not nearly enough content to fill it, but we are super and we managed to do it. This week there is an overload of content so we're hoping we don't end up with a 20 page paper this time. Just our luck! I'm happy though. I'm proud of myself and I'm very pleased with my progress (hehe how appropriate). I hope it keeps getting better from here on.

26 days until Ashley and Matt come to visit! Just had to add that in :)

Spring has NOT sprung yet
So the whole "feels like spring" thing was just a tease. It's cold again. I should know better haha.

I'm just hanging out on the computer while Michael studies for his RCMP test (happens on Sunday), trying to give him some peace and quiet. The quiet is actually quite nice. Not that I've been that busy lately. The weekend was nice because I just worked three in a row so I liked not having to worry about if the pager was going to go off. Michael and I had some alone time Saturday ... we went to Cold Lake and did some shopping then came home and went swimming and watched a movie. It was great.

This week is a pretty slow week at work, which is wonderful. Last week was pretty hectic so it's good to slow down a bit. There just isn't much going on outside of the office. I like getting out of the office, but sometimes I just want to sit at my desk and have my coffee and write my stories. That is, if people will ever call me back for an interview!

And like the rest of the world (it seems) I am addicted to Facebook. There are people on it that I haven't seen in YEARS. It's cool to get in touch with them again or even just see what they have been up to and how they have changed. I love that I have got all my friends into it ... even Michael ha!

Alright ... I'm off (not to check Facebook, I promise ........)

has spring sprung?
So I've finally caught up on sleep. Yesterday, I got up at 9 to go to yoga then came home and slept until 2 pm. It was awesome. It was a day of complete nothingness. I needed that badly.

Today I'm going swimming in a bit and then tonight we're (Kathy, Jill, maybe Vanessa and I) are having a "spa night". We're making soaks and scrubs and masks out of veggies and fruit. Yay!

I will also be watching curling ... cause once again my cousin's team is kicking some major butt (whether or NOT it has to do with having horseshoes stuck up anything hehe). They started out not so great and then managed to win eight games in a row! It's funny, even though this is not the first time they've been in the spotlight on tv and stuff, I still find it strange to watch my cousin on television. I'm really proud though so say that he's in my family. :)

The weather here is awesome!!! It's been beautiful the last few days and everything is melting. It makes me happy!

K I gotta go get ready for swimming ... I'll post again soon.

p.s. hope everyone is enjoying daylight savings time!! :P my tv shows are all on an hour earlier now and I don't know if I'll be able to keep track! grrrr.

sleepy ramblings
It's been a long long week. And weekend.

There was the giant fire on Tuesday night that lasted 23 hours. Michael was there for 15 of those hours. We were supposed to be there for some of it, but we weren't, causing our boss to be not very happy with us. Kathy did end up getting photos and story so it worked out, but we learned a very important lesson: always plan for the unexpected.

We lost someone in our office this week too ... his job was discontinued (moved to Lloydminster) so he was laid off, creating much sadness in our office.

It's still cold outside.

I had about 50,000,000,000 things to do this weekend (yes that is an exaggeration hehe). Most of it was fun, though so that was good. Except for the fish derby which was FREEZING, but at least I got lots of kilometers out of it. Mostly it was just TeleMiracle, which was great cause I got out and saw lots of people, took lots of pictures and we got a great ceramic cutting board. And it was all for a great cause. I also went to yoga and we went swimming which are always fun.

But going going going always makes you tired, even if it some of it is fun. So I'm beat. I would LOVE to sleep in. Hopefully this week will be slower and I will be able to sleep in next weekend. It's just rough cause I am going on my third weekend working in a row, cause I worked for Kathy this weekend. She is going to make it up to me in May when I am going away for a weekend though so, it all works out in the end.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Next weekend (the 11th), the times change for most of you, but not for us! They don't do daylight savings time in Saskatchewan so I wanted to let everyone know in case you get confused. It will be one more hour later than it is now ... that means, the same time as it is in Alberta. 3 hours for Nova Scotia, 3 and a half for Newfoundland.

And finally, good luck to the NL curling team at the Brier!! Is it weird that I still find it strange to watch my cousin on TV?

K I'm done now.

Catching up
I have no excuse for not writing lately, except that I've been busy. But that's nothing new of course.

We are all moved and settled into our new place. I love it!!! It's huge. It feels good to be in a place with lots of space. We have about five drawers in the kitchen we don't even have anything in.

Our trip to Saskatoon was awesome. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. We went swimming, to the movies (Music and Lyrics=hilarious), ate in the hotel restaurant (and I tried Saskatoon berry dressing on my salad and it was delicious), skating on the outdoor rink right across from our hotel and shopping ... lots of shopping. I got everything I intended to get plus a pair of half-price heels! I was so happy! We got our duvet and a desk and curtains for the spare room, and I got jeans and Michael got curling pants. It was great.

I hope we can go back again soon, although it might not be until Ashley and Matt come to visit. I am so excited for them to come! Now that we have the extra room and the futon we stole ... oh yeah I should probably explain that. The person who lived here before left behind everything that wasn't valuable to her. There was a futon there and the mattress was gross but the frame is in perfect condition. So we took it. She STILL hasn't come back to get the rest of the stuff so I don't feel bad. The landlord was going to toss it anyway.

So back to Ashley and Matt coming ... YAY!! Right now it looks like the end of May .. May 24 weekend to be exact. Just when the weather will be getting nice. We already have so much planned it's going to be fun. I'll write more about it later ... when more plans get finalized ... I don't want to jinx it!

So now things are slowing down a little. Just a little though. This weekend is pretty quiet but next weekend will be busy for me. I'm working for Kathy cause she is doing TeleMiracle so I have to cover it. It should be fun though. Plus I have to go to a fish derby and basketball. Fun.

Anyhoo this is get long so I'm going to go. I'm in the middle of doing laundry, which is the most strenuous thing I'm doing today. Except swimming later, but that's fun so it doesn't count :)
